On Sunday, December 11st 2016, Mostarun 5k and 10k race for the benefit of Foundation Movicancer early detection program was developed for the first time. About 5.549 New cancer cases are diagnosed every year in Nicaragua. According to PAHO/WHO data, prostate cancer accounts for 18% of all cancers recorded in the country. That is why Movicancer in conjunction with celebrity runners and with the support of Don Otto de la Rocha, developed the campaign: “Look at me, so that it does not happen to you.”

“10 years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and here I am with the message that we should lose fear of cancer and think about our health. In particular, men should lose their fear of prostate testing because doing so does not make you less of a man”, said Don Otto de la Rocha, a renowned Nicaraguan singer-songwriter.

This campaign has aimed to raise awareness in men about the risks of developing this type of cancer and the opportunities to reduce them through taking control of their health based on scientific information, clear and above all simple. The practical message of this race was, by making small changes in our lifestyle, like walking and exercising we can reduce risks. For it have developed educational posters and flyers that are being distributed through the health sector and local partners of the foundation, also has prepared a video on the subject that can be downloaded from the website of Movicancer and social networks.

The Central Park of Plaza Eclipse race was the starting point, where more than 600 people participated. It was notorious that complete families, children, adolescents and adults (men and women) participated in this race where all were winners and received different awards and royalties from different companies that actively participated as sponsors.
